HABITAT IN THE AREA OF BRA

HABITAT IN THE AREA OF BRA

In the last room on the second floor at the right of the stairs, four dioramas show the close link between the Museum Craveri and  the territory of Bra. They represent the  reconstruction   of the most significant natural habitats that can be encountered not far from the city. The long experience gained in scientific dissemination and environmental education has contributed to their realization, which since 1988, through thematic lessons and field experiences, has initiated thousands of local school children to accurate  observation and study of the main geological,  botanical and faunal aspects of our territory. Starting from the left, the large diorama illustrates the humid environment with some naturalistic aspects of the reeds and the riparian forest behind which you can see the Rii di Cherasco flowing into the Stura di Demonte river. In the central area, under the Monviso which dominates the western Alps in the distance, we find the grassland environment, which more than others is affected by the alterations caused by human activities, and on the right, between chestnut and oak trees, the hilly environment of America dei Boschi which makes up the first offshoot of the Roero area rising  to the north-east of Bra. The three smaller dioramas placed in front show further aspects of the three environments described in the main diorama: on the left the Roero Undergrowth in autumn, in the center the Cornfield in winter and on the right Life in the pond in spring.
