On Sunday, May 11, 2025, a day dedicated to fencing will take place at the Museum of Art, History and Archaeology of Palazzo Traversa in Bra.
In the morning, the presentation of the book “FATE GLI FACTI CHE PAROLE NON ANO LOCO - La Spada a una mano di Fiore dei Liberi” by the author, Maestro Alessandro Tosoni, which examines a part of the treatise written by Fiore dei Liberi at the beginning of the 15th century, which, to date, is the first real fencing manual written in Italy.
The screening of the historical short film FIORE directed by Alberto Mattea and AMProductions Italia. The film, winner of numerous international awards (e.g. Best Film - Middle ages at International Film Festival Austria) and national awards (Premio Italia Medievale 2023), sees Maestro Alessandro as Master of Arms and Fight Coordinator.
In the afternoon, a fencing workshop will be held dedicated to the interpretation and practice of some of the techniques of the treaty.
Various fencing halls and associations will be involved and it will be open to the public.
At the same time, there will be the opportunity for children, teenagers and adults to try the basic principles of fencing, techniques and strokes, with adequate equipment and in complete safety, followed by specialized technicians.
Throughout the day, the Civic Museum will be open to the public and admission is free.
The event is organized by "Zizzola turismo e cultura" thanks to the collaboration of the "Accademia Scherma di Alba".
