On Thursday 9 September at 9, at Palazzo Mathis in Bra (in Piazza Caduti per la Libertà 20), the exhibition "The unveiled man. Studies and restoration of a 4500-year-old Egyptian mummy ”. The event, which inaugurates the 2021 exhibition season of the CRC Foundation, is curated by the Conservation and Restoration Center "La Venaria Reale" (CCR) with the collaboration of the University of Turin, its University Museum System and the Department of Life Sciences and Systems Biology, the Superintendence of Archeology of Fine Arts and Landscape for the Metropolitan City of Turin and the J Medical Medical Center, and is created with the support of the City of Bra.
The extraordinary project of knowledge and conservative recovery of an Egyptian mummy dating back to the Old Kingdom (IV Dynasty, 2600-2400 BC), one of the oldest in the collections of the Museum of Anthropology and Ethnography of the University of Turin (MAET), is presented to the public. ). The find, exhibited for the first time in Bra after the delicate recovery intervention, speaks a little Piedmontese: it was found in 1920 during the Italian Archaeological Mission in Egypt which also included the anthropologist Giovanni Marro, born in Limone Piedmont and founder of the Museum which today houses the find.
The exhibition is divided into four rooms. The first contains the video presentation of the exhibition and the project, the introduction to the exhibition project with the history and contextualization of the find. The second room is dedicated to diagnostic investigations and to the techniques used to support the knowledge of the mummy, in particular to the explanation of the results of the tomographic analyzes, carried out by the J Medical Medical Center of Turin, which allowed the anthropological study; There is also a 3D reproduction of the mummy's skull, created starting from the analyzes and processed data. The third room presents the complex restoration of the textile apparatus of the mummy from the Venaria Center in the story of the intervention through images and the methodological phases in respect of ethics and in the approach to the human find. Finally, the fourth room is reserved for the direct and emotional encounter of the visitor with the mummy displayed in a simple glass case, so that it can be appreciated from every point of view.
"This initiative opens the new season of artistic events promoted by the CRC Foundation which this year, for the first time, offers an exhibition in the city of Bra", says Ezio Raviola, vice president of the CRC Foundation. "A unique event that will allow you to immerse yourself in the atmosphere of ancient Egypt and explore the results of research carried out on the fascinating mummy thanks to the collaboration of the" La Venaria Reale "Conservation and Restoration Center and the scientific partners involved".

"The unveiled man" will be open to visitors for free - in compliance with anti Covid measures - until 12 December 2021, from Thursday to Monday from 9 to 12.30 and from 15 to 18.
